Art Preservation Services (APS), founded in 1988, specializes in environmental
preservation of collections in museums, archives, and historic buildings.

APS is actively involved in research on the preservation of museum collections,
focusing on topics relating to relative humidity, light and air pollution.

Consulting services include the design and trouble-shooting of mechanical
systems for environmental control of buildings, historic structures and room environments.

APS has developed unique systems for passive control of RH within exhibition cases,
and has consulted with many museums on exhibition case design to ensure proper RH control.
Arten hygrometers, Arten Silica Gel, and Rhapid Gel, the newest product released
by APS, are all examples of products developed and sold by APS. These products are
used in many museums throughout the United States and worldwide, including the
National Gallery, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Who we are
Steven Weintraub, founder and principal of APS, previously worked as a staff
conservator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and as a conservation researcher at
the Getty Conservation Institute.
William Wladyka, P.E., is an associate
consultant for APS who specializes in climate control systems. William Wladyka
is an active member of ASHRAE, having served as a former president of the NY Chapter.
Marc Weintraub, joined us in August 2006 with a masters in Electrical Engineering.
He specializes in environmental monitoring systems.
